New to packrafting or wanting to upskill? We have a variety of courses for all ability levels. All our courses will run with a small student:instructor ratio of maximum 4:1 so that you get plenty of attention and individual feedback. If you can't make it onto a scheduled course or want individual/small group coaching check out our custom rates at the bottom of the page.

Inflate to Dominate...Beginner Course
What even is a packraft? Which way round does the paddle go? How do I fit it in the bag? What do I do if I fall out?
If these are the kind of questions that pop into your head then our beginner course is probably for you. Bring your own boat and gear or use ours.
What's covered:
- Outfitting/setting up your boat
- Forward paddling
- Introduction to basic Hydrology and
river-reading
- Basic rescue skills
- ​Control strokes
- Introductory river-running skills

Styling not Surviving...Intermediate Course
This course is for competent Class II packrafters wanting to get more out of their paddling and work up to running harder whitewater. If you find yourself generally trying to follow someone else or just bomb down the middle of rapids this might be the course for you.
What's covered?
Intermediate level courses will be more tailored to the individuals involved, but topics covered could include:
​- Improving river-running skills such as eddy turns, ferrying, S-turns, surfing, boofing etc.
- Scouting/river reading techniques land and water based
- More advanced rescue techniques
- Coaching on paddle and boat control
- Making harder moves on easier whitewater
- Leading others on whitewater

Play the River...Advanced Course
Want to work on more advanced river-running or playing skills? Need a nudge to drop into that meaty looking hole? This course is focused on getting the most fun out of the river through surfing, boofing and running larger rapids/drops. This is best for solid Class III paddlers with good self-rescue or rolling ability.
What's covered?
As with the intermediate course teaching on the advanced course will be more tailored but expect to cover things such as:
- Surfing waves and holes (front surfing and side surfing)
- Boofing
- Catching tricky eddies
- Jet ferrying
- Rolling help
- Looking cool

Adventure Race Training
Scored an entry to GodZone, TrueWest, MAGNIficent or similar but are feeling a bit intimidated by the paddling component, or want to get your team up-to-scratch so that you are really competitive in this discipline? Come along for a day of learning how to read whitewater, pick the fastest line and steer those tricky doubles.

What's covered?
- Good paddling technique to be able to paddle for hours conserving energy and minimising injury.
- Steering...doubles are long and can be more challenging to steer than singles. Don't kill your speed with constant back strokes, learn how to stay on-line without wasting energy
- Hydrology and river-reading. How to spot the fastest lines and current. What features to avoid.
- Tips and tricks...when to rest and when to push. Speed up those transitions and keep the downstream momentum going.

For safety reasons, if taking clients on Class 4 whitewater we will always provide a minimum of 2 guides. The increased prices reflect the increased risk and necessary skill level of the guides.
