RISK DISCLOSURES

Whilst we only employ experienced guides trained in first aid and river rescue techniques participants should be aware that Packrafting will always involve a risk of serious injury or death and that West Coast Packrafting cannot guarantee participants' safety.  More detailed information on potential hazards on specific trips will be provided as part of the booking process or is available on request.

River Grading

Rivers are classified as different 'grades' or 'classes' based on their difficulty and severity of potential consequences.  West Coast Packrafting uses the international river grading system and operates on Class I-IV rivers.  Specific hazards relevant to the grade of trip you choose and specific location will be provided with your pre-trip information or on request.

Natural Hazards

Packrafting is an activity that can be affected by natural hazards such as heavy rainfall and flooding, rocks wood or other debris in the river, earthquake and landslides, and tsunami when in coastal areas.  West Coast Packrafting has assessed the risk from these hazards and developed mitigation procedures some of which will be shared with participants before and during their trip.  If you would like more information on how we manage the risk associated with these hazards please get in touch.
